Description:
Authentic and extremely rare enamelled plate in metal from the French Cycling Federation.
It was in 1888 that Vélocio, whose real name was Paul de Vivie, coined the neologism "cyclotourism", which was practised within the Touring Club de France, the only national association devoted exclusively to cyclotourism.
In 1923, Gaston Clément founded the Fédération française des sociétés de cyclotourisme (FFSC), which had over 9,000 members in 1939, but ceased to exist during the Second World War.
To take up the torch, the FFCT was created on 25 February 1945, with Charles Antonin as its first president.
