The team was founded in 1979 under the name "Inoxpran", headed by sports director Davide Boifava. In the team's third season in 1981, Italian rider Giovanni Battaglin won the Giro d'Italia and the Tour of Spain. He became the second rider in history to complete the Giro-Vuelta double that same year, after Eddy Merckx in 1973. In 1983, team captain Roberto Visentini finished second.
